About Syracuse

Syracuse is New York state's fourth largest city. Syracuse University, Upstate Medical University, and the College of Environmental Science and Forestry sit adjacent to one another on the edge of downtown Syracuse and form a dynamic hub known as University Hill. Combine our three campuses with nearby LeMoyne College and Onondaga Community College, and you have a town filled with students, academics, research centers, computers, libraries and great sports. Add abundant, affordable housing and a cost of living below the national average, and you have a great place to go to graduate school!

However, we recognize that the makeup of a comfortable living environment differs widely from one person to another. Some like city life, some don't. The weather is an important consideration for some people, for others it's not. Faculty and students with young children have different interests from adults without children. Recreational possibilities are important to some, while others focus mainly on research with an occasional night out.
